The license partners in PL416 have decided to drill an exploration well in Production License 416 in 2011.
The well will target the Upper Jurassic Breiflabb prospect, located due southwest of the Troll Field. PL416 was awarded in APA 2006. To arrive at this decision ERN has acquired an EM survey and a new 3D survey and conducted in-depth technical evaluations.
“The drilling operation will represent an important step up for ERN as an operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. ERN will follow the other E.ON Ruhrgas E&P companies which already have drilling operations in the UK and Algeria, and recently two E.ON operated fields were set in production in the UK” says Haakon Haaland the Managing Director of E.ON Ruhrgas Norge (ERN).
The semi submersible drilling rig Borgland Dolphin will be used for the operation. Later next year ERN will operate a well on PL350.
The PL416 license group is:
E.ON Ruhrgas Norge (Op): 50 %
Rocksource: 35 %
Det Norske Oljeselskap: 15 %
