The actual quality of the natural product, natural gas, can hardly be improved. Therefore, in our research and development work, we focus primarily on gas transmission, distribution and use, the main emphasis being on cost-efficiency and environmental protection.
In R&D, we work closely with our customers and partners in the marketplace. Technological fields with a promising future include fuel cells as well as the use of gas as an automotive fuel and in plastics processing. Satellite-based positioning systems will further facilitate the construction and operation of gas transmission pipelines.
We are, out of conviction, one of the companies which have maintained their offensive innovation strategy. For there are a number of subjects in the field of research and development which we will have to concentrate on more in future.
The gas condensing boiler, which is now well established on the market, is a good example of the efficient use of energy. Gas heat pumps for residential applications which permit the combined use of gas and renewable energies are continuing this development. Alongside the combination of gas condensing boiler and solar collector, the gas heat pump is another product line for the integrated use of gas and renewable energies.
We will also continue to work on the refinement of micro-CHPs, combined-cycle power plants, micro-turbines and fuel cells. The aim of our activities is to sensibly extend the linked use of natural gas and renewable energies.
