E.ON operated well 6507/6-4 is currently being permanently plugged and abandoned.
The well design included two well bores and tested the Triassic Sindbad and the Permian Sesam prospects.
Sindbad (well 6507/6-4 S) tested a seismic AVO anomaly. The objective reservoir was found with the predicted properties, but unfortunately the well was dry.
Sesam (well 6507/6-4 A) did not encounter the predicted reservoir quality.
The well plan and its execution has been a technical success, even when considering the extreme seasonal weather conditions, design complexity and environmental constraints.
“All operations have been conducted with a high level of safety performance at all times.
This technical result further demonstrates E.ON’s proven capability and approach to undertake demanding drilling projects on the Norwegian Continental Shelf”, says Jan Andreassen Drilling Manager at E.ON.
The well was the first drilled in PL350, and is the result of a long and very good cooperation between Statoil, PGNiG and E.ON.
“ Our track record in terms of discovering oil and gas fields in Norway is a very good one, but unfortunately Sesam was dry. E.ON Norge holds a large portfolio of exploration licenses in Norway. In the last license round the company was awarded four operatorships. The focus is now on evaluating the licenses to confirm possible exploration well targets to be drilled in 2012 and beyond. In terms of this year we will participate in at least 2 exploration wells and operate extensive 2D/3D seismic programs”, says Haakon Haaland, Managing Director.

As a result of the APA2011 application, E.ON has been offered 5 new exploration licenses in the Norwegian Sea, including 4 operated licenses.
The license work commitments include the acquisition of 400 sq km 3D seismic, 500 km 2D seismic, reprocessing of older 3D seismic in addition to geological studies.
“The licenses offered are located both adjacent to current E.ON licenses and in areas where, up until now, we have only performed regional evaluations.
A concrete result of these regional studies are the offered PL651 and PL656, both of which are considered to be favourably located for hydrocarbon generation, migration and accumulation. These new licenses will generate challenging job opportunities for our growing organisation, along with the increased focus on the acquisition of additional proven resources,” says Svend Erik Pettersson, General Manager Exploration and BD.
E.ON has drilled two wells as operator in Norway during the last months. E.ON is testing unproven plays, demonstrating exploration creativity and commitment.

E.ON nominates blocks in the Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea, the latter for the first time. As a part of the growth ambitions the Barents Sea is an emerging focus area for E.ON exploration.
E.ON has established a significant seismic data base in the Barents and a dedicated exploration team has worked focussed on this over the last year, leading to the nominations.
“We intend to apply with aggressive work programmes for the areas we would like awards in” says exploration manager Svend Erik Pettersson.
E.ON spudded two wells as operator in Norway in 2011. The PL350 Sesam well is still in progress.

ERN has spudded its second operated well in PL350.
The well targets the Triassic Sindbad and the Permian Sesam prospects.
PL350 is located due east of the Skarv field, and the PL350 licensees are also partners in the Skarv Unit.
The drilling rig Borgland Dolphin was also used by ERN for the drilling of the Breiflabb prospect earlier this year.
PL350 licensees are:
ERN (op): 40 %
Statoil: 30 %
PGNiG: 30 %

ERN has finished drilling of exploration well 31/8-1 (“Breiflabb”). The well failed to encounter hydrocarbons. The main risk of the Breiflabb prospect was the access to a mature source rock, and the charge risk was confirmed.
The operations went well finishing ahead of schedule and with no people accidents nor environmental incidents.
The Borgland Dolphin rig will now be drilling two other wells before coming onto contract with ERN again. ERN estimates to spud the Sesam well in PL350 in October.

Petroleumstilsynet (Petroleum Safety Authority Norway) has given ERN consent to use Borgland Dolphin to drill exploration well 31/8-1, targeting the Breiflabb prospect. This is the final step in the approval process for the operation, as ERN was already granted drilling permit by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
ERN expects to get Borgland Dolphin on contract in week 25, and will start the drilling as soon as possible. Anchors for the rig have already been lain at the drilling site at 304 m water depth.

The NPD (Norwegian Petroleum Directorate) has granted ERN a drilling permit for well 31/8-1. The well will be ERN’s first operated drilling, and it will be the first well in block 31/8. The well will target the Jurassic Breiflabb prospect, located some 15 kilometres south west of the Troll field. The Borgland Dolphin rig will spud the well in June, after finishing its operations at the Skarv field.
ERN holds 50 % in PL416.
